Style guide for images

Preview images - 3:4 ratio? Or 9:16? - 9:16 is ratio of 0.5625 - 800 x 450 - 640 x 360 - 400 x 225 - 3:4 is ratio of 0.76 - width: 800 - height: 450 - resolution: ? 72dpi? Or ?At least 150 dpi, which means how many pixels wide for ratio/screen size?

Size calculations

  • My big screen is 1920 by 1080

  • Quarto tends to use middle ??half of screen so usable width is 800px

  • Good height would be 300px (narrow) or 450px (9:16)

Good size would be 800 x 300, or 800x450

Editing

In GIMP: 1. View > Snap to Canvas Edges 2. Select rectangle, aiming for ratio of 1.78 (16:9) 3. Image > Fit Canvas to Selection 4. Image > Scale image, if necessary 5. Export as, appending resolution to file name
